Portal was created to change that.
Today, we’re introducing Portal v4 for iPhone and iPad. Built from the ground up, it reimagines how we bring nature back into our lives - with an experience designed to make nature feel present during the hours we can’t be outdoors.
Central to the new experience is Circadian Flow. Rooted in circadian science, it syncs Portal with your local time of day, playing portals that mirror the changing light and rhythm of the world outside. From sunrise to sunset, and into the stillness of night, Portal evolves with your day - helping you feel more connected to the ebb and flow of the world beyond your walls.
The all-new Liquid Glass design builds upon the biophilic principles at the heart of Portal, bringing the fluidity and physicality of the natural world into the digital experience. Light bends and refracts like sunlight through a window, surfaces respond with the fluidity of water, and controls float and glisten like droplets of rain on glass. These details bridge our digital and natural worlds - helping us feel a little closer, however far we may have wandered.

Portal v4 also makes it easier to shape your experience. Environment Control brings visuals, sound and smart lighting together in one place - whether you’re creating a quiet space for focus, bringing the sound of waves to your desk, or winding down with the stillness of dusk.
You can also choose between motion and still visuals, while Spatial Audio and smart lighting help bring the experience beyond the screen and into the space around you.
With over 100 portals to explore, there’s always somewhere new to go. You can 'pull down' in the Library to search by place, time of day and more - from Costa Rica’s cloud forests to the volcanic landscapes of Iceland.
Favourites are now front and centre with the new design, while Playable Collections let you string multiple portals together into a continuous journey - whether you’re exploring one corner of the world or travelling between them.
Portal v4 also brings a collection of smaller improvements designed to make Portal more useful throughout the day.
New timers and alarms support focus sessions, Pomodoro-style working, rest and peaceful wake-ups. Home Screen, Lock Screen and Control Centre widgets put your favourite portals just a tap away, while deeper Siri, Spotlight and Handoff integration makes it easier to discover and play Portal across your devices.
And when Wi-Fi isn’t an option, Offline Playback lets you take your favourite portals with you.
At the same time, we’re also making Portal more accessible than ever.
We’ve recently significantly reduced the price of Portal Premium - with pricing adjusted by country to reflect local purchasing power.
And alongside v4, we’re introducing a new way to try Portal Premium. New customers can now enjoy 7 days of Premium access for free, with no payment details, no auto-subscribe, nothing to cancel. After the trial, you can simply continue with Portal’s free Open Access experience or choose to subscribe.
And because we don’t want cost to be the reason someone misses out, we’ve set up our Community Fund to provide Portal Premium access to people for whom the cost would otherwise be a barrier.
